I can remember the first time I saw a computer in school, the screen was black with green writing and I thought it was the best thing ever! Times have changed, and the New Millennial generation not only know but crave technology. Technology is the new norm.
I teach a very diverse group of students.
My students come from different walks of life and although my school is positioned in a neighborhood that is pretty much affluent many of my kids take buses from miles away to get here, some even take public transportation. With that said many of them do not have the luxury of technology within their homes even though technology seems so widespread. I simply want to be the agent of change when it comes to educating the 21st century learner. Technology is the gateway to bridging the gap among my population of students.
My Project
I am requesting a Mac Book Pro with Microsoft Word to use within my class. This device will allow me to instruct students whole group and individually. This device will be used to bring history to life! Students would be able to use features such as iMovie to retell historical accounts. They will also be able to utilize the device to complete extensive research projects that will prepare them for college and career.
My students will be able to connect to the real world from the seats within my classroom.
They will be able to create and retell historical accounts in the way they know best, which is through technology.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
