This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a curious and energetic bunch of kids! Many of whom are second language learners. They live in a high poverty/low income neighborhood. They face many challenges both in and out of school. Yet, everyday these amazing children come to school eager to learn!
Our classroom is in a Title 1 school located in a large urban school district.
Our school serves about 750 students from Pre-kinder through 6th grade. All students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. My goal is to provide my students with experiences and opportunities that will enhance their learning and give them the tools they need to be college and career ready.
My Project
By having access to iPad minis on a daily basis, my students will be able to improve their 21st century technology skills. Students will use these iPad minis to create visual presentations; practice reading and math fluency; collaborate on research projects; and build their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Now, more than ever, technology is what engages and motivates students in the classroom.
I find that my students are more willing to work collaboratively and participate in discussions when they can use multimedia applications to create and present their learning. My goal is for every student to have a device available to them in the classroom. These iPads will help me begin to reach that goal.
