Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Technology integration is not an event. It should be an everyday part of our classroom...like crayons and breathing."- Jamie Domeny.
I would love to use technology as an everyday part of our classroom. Unfortunately, that is not always possible. My computer is very unreliable and often does not work.
My school is located in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood.
The students must be in a lower income bracket to qualify for per-k. Many of their parents are either from Hispanic countries or are first generation Americans. My four and five years old come eager and ready to learn about the world around them. They especially love learning through technology.
My Project
The computer will be used by pairs of students as a center. This will promote social interaction and language development. Using programs such as ABC Mouse and Starfall will help my students become competent in navigating varies software programs.
I will also be able to print out games that will re-enforce language art, science, social science and math skills in a fun way. I would like a laminating machine in order to laminate the games I create or print out. By having a laminating machine, the students materials will last longer in pre-k hands.
Having a laminating machine and working computer will enable my students and I to efficiently use technology on a daily bases.
My students will be prepared not only for kindergarten but also for their technological future. The ease of using today's technology will indeed be like the ease of using paper and pencil in the past.
