My students love to be active. They are full of energy and very outgoing. My students are always looking forward to being in the gym and releasing some of the excitement and energy that they hold in during their regular core classes that they have to sit still for the most part in. I know it is very important to have them active and working on having an increased heart rate in the time that I spend with them so that when they are back in their classroom they are ready to focus on the subject at hand.
Most of my students are from lower-income families, this sometimes makes it hard when asking for donations in the classroom.
However, this doesn't make my student any less important then at the next school. If anything my students are better because they define the odds of coming from the bottom where they are being oppressed by many others outside the community; setting the minority and at-risk population up for failure. I want to do everything in my power to give them the opportunities that make them break out to succeed so that they can help their community prevail.
My Project
There are many different materials I have put on my wishlist. These pieces of equipment will help teach my students how to have fun playing a wide variety of games to show that being active is fun.
My overall goal is to have all my students participate every day, to try something new, to work as a team, and to have fun doing it.
I will be taking important time to explain how certain situation, activity, gameplay can be related to life. It is extremely important that my students understand that being active is key to a healthy lifestyle. I will show them how they can be a healthy life long learner so that they can teach their family and friends around them.
