Amplifying Voices: Racial Justice and Identity Through Art

Help me give my students access to art supplies that will empower them to explore racial justice, celebrate cultural identity, and create powerful works of art that reflect their voices and lived experiences.

My Project

My students are curious, expressive, and deeply impacted by the world around them. They come from diverse cultural and racial backgrounds, and many are seeking ways to understand their identity and advocate for equity. Art provides a powerful space for them to explore these ideas safely and creatively. They deserve opportunities to see themselves reflected in the curriculum and to use their voices to inspire change.

Access to materials like oil pastels, sculpting clay, charcoal pencils, watercolor pencils, acrylic paints, and high-quality art paper will give my students the tools they need to fully express their ideas around racial justice and identity.

These diverse mediums allow for a wide range of artistic expression—whether it’s the boldness of acrylic paints, the texture of clay for three-dimensional storytelling, or the emotional depth captured with charcoal and watercolor. With these supplies, students can choose the medium that best reflects their message, explore different techniques, and develop confidence in their creative voices. The variety also encourages experimentation, giving each student a personal path to create meaningful art that honors their heritage, experiences, and vision for a more just world.
