Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our elementary school is proud to serve a diverse student body, many of whom are Spanish speakers or come from bilingual households. To foster academic success and celebrate their rich cultural heritage, we are seeking funding to grow our collection of Spanish picture books.
These books will offer our students the opportunity to read in their native language, helping to enhance vocabulary, improve comprehension, and cultivate a love of reading from an early age.
This expanded collection will also support our dual-language and ESL programs by providing engaging, age-appropriate stories that reflect the unique experiences and traditions of our students.
We plan to include a mix of original Spanish-language works and high-quality translations of beloved stories, with themes that highlight community, perseverance, creativity, and identity. With your support, we aim to build a library where every child sees themselves in the pages they turn—where their language and culture are celebrated, and their voices are heard.
