My Students

My students are devoted learners who love learning in a dual immersion setting. My students are special because they are so motivated to learn in two different classrooms; one English-speaking and the other Spanish-speaking. They are excited to participate in classroom discussions and love to learn in a student-centered classroom.

My Project

I have some really advanced readers in my class this year, but not enough good books for them to read! I would love some new sets of books so that my students can be motivated to read! I have six different book clubs going on in my classroom. These students read with me and parents, then they discuss the books they have read using various literacy skills: summarizing, making connections, discussing the setting and characters, and asking questions. Sometimes we do these book groups in a kiva in the hall where there is not a sound system. The handheld microphone will be so useful to ensure that we can hear everyone read and share their thoughts about the book.
