My students need a Flex Cam so that I can show them the microorganisms that I am ask them to locate with their own microscopes.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Sharp's classroom raised $719

Huh? A what? Are you speaking English? Para who? How do I find a para-whatever you just said? These are the questions that I hear every time I introduce protists such as paramecium and volvox to my 6th graders.
Teaching middle school science has many challenges, but the most demanding challenge for me is trying to explain what a microorganism looks like and how to locate it under a microscope when my students have never seen one of these microorganisms and I have no way to show them all at once.
Having a flex cam at my disposal would greatly increase my student's knowledge of microorganisms before they ever get into the lab. My students get so frustrated when they go into the lab to do something "cool" with the microscopes and then they can not "find" the microorganism under the microscope.
You will make it possible for my 6th grade students to have knowledge and power of science beyond what I can help them achieve. I only do hands-on science in my classroom because I believe that students learn by doing. I have seen the look of excitement and sheer joy when they build their first battery powered light, when they launch their homemade rocket, when they explode their volcano, but when it comes to microscope action I very rarely get to hear, "I found it!" Just once I would like everyone to have the same equal footage to begin with. Most of the time it is just luck that a student locates the correct microorganism. With the help of the flex cam my students will know up front what they are looking for and that will increase productivity in the lab and student success.
