My students need books at varying levels to research the American Revolution such as George vs. George, Paul Revere's Ride, and You Wouldn't Want to Be at the Boston Tea Party!: Wharf Water Tea You'd Rather Not Drink.
Literacy is the center of our entire classroom. I try to infuse each child with a love of reading, in order to help them reach the highest levels of success possible. "The more you read, the more things that you'll know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." Dr. Seuss.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds, both in socioeconomic and ethnic terms.
They also have a very wide variety of ability levels. Many of my students have little access to books outside of school and very little educational support at home. Despite this, I love that their love for reading and learning blooms and grows within our classroom.
My Project
We are requesting books at varying levels to research the American Revolution such as George vs. George, Paul Revere's Ride, and You Wouldn't Want to Be at the Boston Tea Party!: Wharf Water Tea You'd Rather Not Drink. These materials are needed for research and writing throughout our year on the American Revolution. This is part of our curriculum however because of a lack of resources, it is very difficult for my students to complete their research. The students will use these books to conduct their research and then will present a culminating project based on what they have learned.
The variety of engaging books that I've requested will allow all of my students (current and future) to become engaged in researching the American Revolution.
This knowledge and experience will support their learning of not only history but also how to engage in an inquiry of a topic.
