Hello, I am writing this proposal to request a set of books that my students and I absolutley adore. About a year ago, I borrowed a series from the library called The American Girls Collection featuring Addy. This story is about a ten year old girl named Addy who is living during the Civil War time period. Since the stories are realistic fiction and historical fiction, the children really gain an understanding of what life was like during the slavery era. These books are very child friendly and include important vocabulary and very detailed illustrations. I would really like to have the entire American Girls Collection in my classroom so the students can be able to learn about the many historical time periods. I have researched the set myself. However, because of other classroom expenses that I have, I am unable to purchase these books. The collections feature the girls named Kaya, Felicity, Josefina, Kirsten, Addy, Molly, Kit, Nellie, and Samantha. These books would be a great addition to my third grade class. I work at a school where the students cannot afford sets of books like these. I am absolutely sure that the students would be grateful for such a thoughtful contribution.
