My students love to be at school. They love to learn and enjoy being part of our classroom and school community. I teach a kindergarten/TK combo class and we are learning about habits of success, problem-solving, and how to be good friends and classmates.
I want to create a classroom environment filled with collaborative students who share ideas and help each other through problem-solving where student thinking is the center of instruction.
My goal is that students will use the easel to share their mathematical thinking and ideas with their classmates. Students will be able to learn from each other and try new math strategies taught by their classmates. The easel will act as a surface and podium to model and share their ways of thinking and solving math problems with the class. The easel will provide ample storage for mathematical tools and manipulatives that students will have access to use while solving complex mathematical problems.
