My Project
My students, like most students, have struggled to get back into the swing of things after the pandemic, especially in math. I was having a hard time getting them to understand the fourth-grade concepts and stay engaged. Then I started using Reflex Math and Frax. It has been a game-changer.
I've gotten some of the best gains I've ever had in my career this year, and I feel like I owe a lot of these gains to Reflex and Frax.
Reflex is just a bunch of games to learn all of the math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Frax is a bunch of games to help learn fractions. Most of my class at this point has mastered all of their math facts, which alone boosted their confidence a great deal.
Then we started Frax (which the kids also love) a couple of weeks before our fractions unit. Once we got to our fractions unit, I was shocked at how good they were at fractions. I got the best test results after each fraction mini-unit that I've ever gotten. Then we took an all-around math placement test and the kids grew so much from the beginning of the year. It was pretty incredible to see. I really hope this project is funded as I have never seen any math program work this effectively before. This will ensure that we are able to continue this same work next year. Thank you!
