My Students
My students need to connect with new concepts in a variety of ways. A new laptop will allow my students to use new methods to access curriculum. The students will be able to master new content and meet their academic goals.
The students in our classroom come from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
The students love learning together and need the opportunity to share skills. The students are a diverse learning community that works together in an inclusive education environment. Inclusive education means that children who reflect the demographics of the surrounding region, including children who develop typically, children with special needs and children who are gifted, learn side by side. My school's model allows for the individual needs of each child to be addressed in a manner that enhances each child's strengths while also addressing learning needs. My students have so many great ideas and they love working together as a community. They are excited and inspired to achieve their potential when they can practice skills in new ways.
My Project
DonorsChoose has allowed me to change my classroom and my students' lives for the better by enhancing their learning experience with 6 funded projects. With school budget cuts continuing to be a problem, I will continue to advocate on behalf of my students to provide them with the necessary materials to succeed. We are beginning a new unit on the rain forest and the students will use the laptop to do research, watch educational videos, watch power point presentations and make their own presentations. The laptop will make this content come to life! The students will have access to use the laptop in all academic areas including math and science. The laptop will help us to use a variety of Online manipulatives to use visuals to present new math concepts. The possibilities are endless!
My students deserve the latest technology and every necessary tool to succeed.
Unfortunately the on-going budget cuts do not allow us the funds to purchase new technology. I am working with Donors Choose to get a new classroom laptop to continue to provide new ways for my students to learn.
