My Students

Art class is one of the most interesting and important learning times in a young student's life and, without the proper supplies, my students will not be able to have a complete art class.

Our school serves students of low income and middle income families.

We are a fairly new school that relies heavily on fund raising, community support and parent involvement. Our school is working hard to provide our students with a high quality education despite limited resources. Our student population is extremely special because it is so diverse. We have students from Ghana, Iceland, Poland, Australia, Switzerland and South America to name a few. We are our own mini United Nations. Students and staff alike benefit from this environment. Our school teaches by example that we live in a community rich in diversity.

My Project

My students love being able to create art in class and I would love to provide them with the opportunity to create a new and different type of art using watercolor paint. I am asking for a set of watercolor paints that includes trays, replacement paint and paintbrushes. This will allow my students the opportunity to continue developing their fine motor skills. Being able to control a paintbrush has a direct impact on how students learn to write, a skill that is essential for a student to move into first grade. In addition to the watercolor paints, we are asking for a set of drying racks where we can place the artwork after it has been completed. Teaching in a class with 30 students and all of the supplies needed to run the class does not always allow for an area where artwork can be stored until it can be hung. This set of drying racks will complete our art center and allow for even more creativity from the students.

Art is an essential part of being a kindergarten student and without all of the necessary supplies, my students are not having a complete experience.

Watercolor paints and drying racks are essential to creating art in the classroom. With your donation, my students will be able to fully enjoy art in our classroom.
