Amateur Historians Collaborate Better When Together!

Help me give my students six round desks and chairs for high-rigor group learning.

My Project

Getting a class of eighth graders excited about history is a tough job. It is even more difficult when your classroom is set up with the same old 20th-century seating arrangement with one student seated directly behind the other. BORING!

It is my desire for students to have group discussions throughout the class period when the appropriate opportunity presents itself.

Currently, at the end of each historical topic that I teach, students have the opportunity to "turn and talk" about what they have just learned.

The round desks and chairs that I am requesting for my scholars would bring this concept to a whole new level. In addition, the round desk setup would allow easier teacher-student engagement. No more walking up and down endless rows; the round desks will allow greater mobility when moving from one group of historians to the next.

I am so excited about enhancing the learning environment of my eighth-grade history classroom. Please help and thank you so much.
