This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We live in South Texas and I have a wonderful group of kiddos in my class. My classroom consists of students with various learning styles. I have several students who are English language learners, some with special educational needs due to learning difficulties including two with Dyslexia, a couple who are gifted and talented, and others with ADHD and behavioral problems. This diverse group of students are always eager to learn and wild about incorporating anything technology into their projects, assignments, and activities! They work hard daily and their enthusiasm for learning grows when they hear that hands-on technology will somehow be involved in their work! They have shown motivation, commitment, responsibility, and patience when it is time to use the limited amount of technology and resources available in my classroom to complete assignments. They deserve the opportunity to extend and enrich their learning with more digital and electronic learning devices for the classroom!
My Project
Technology has been an extraordinary addition to our classroom, but we have been very limited in our resources. I’ve selected an iPad Pro & Sphero to add to my classroom because it will allow my students to learn coding skills while walking freely around the classroom without being confined to their chairs! The iPad Pro also has features that allow the user to note-take, write and sketch while projecting or mirroring onto a large screen. This brilliant device will allow for a very effective knowledge retention learning method called EduSketch or Sketchnotes. Through this method, students will combine all senses maximizing their learner experience and engagement and overall content retention. In addition, my students will be able to present all of their digital assignments while projecting directly from the iPad Pro from any desired location in the classroom. My students, including those with ADHD who need constant movement and discourse, will be able to freely walk around the room while working directly on their iPad Pro and coding on their Sphero. The portability of these devices will help my students fulfill their learning assignments while still including their daily physical classroom breaks! We’d love more creative ways to learn, apply and present without any movement restrictions or lack of resources.
