Help me give my students a care package of supplies they need such as notebooks, pens, pencils, and a whiteboard, along with a few class of 2020 mementos.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from a diverse population in Providence, RI, the capital city. Many come from high-poverty neighborhoods or are English Language Learners, however, none of these labels change their joy for learning. Throughout distance learning, our students have been overcoming many obstacles to complete their work with success. They thrive on routine, consistency, and social-emotional support and do their best to show up every single day. We have been providing these supports the best we can, with a whole team delivering materials, food, and technology to student homes.
Many of our students are facing challenges during this unprecedented time, including losing family members here and in other states or countries from this virus.
Through it all, our Warriors continue to persevere!
My Project
We 8th grade teachers miss our students so much! We we would love to send home care packs, filled with supplies to aid them in their distance learning. The whiteboard and dry erase marker can help them with their math, while pens, pencils and a notebook can keep their notes organized for all of their classwork. We have heard that many of our students don't have these materials at home. Our hope is that providing these materials will keep them motivated and ready to learn each day of distance learning. Since we can't be with them in school to celebrate their accomplishments or help them with their struggles, we just want to show our students how much we care about their success now and in the future.
We hope to put a huge smile on their faces when we deliver these packs to them in person.
