Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a low-income/high poverty school, where many students receive free lunch. My students also come to school just learning how to speak English. I am working hard to prepare my students for success in high school and college.

My 1st grade class is made up of 18 amazing scholars who are excited and ready to learn everyday!

My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Even with those challenges, my students enjoy being at school because it makes them feel safe and loved.

My Project

Alternative seating options will allow my students the opportunity to move and work throughout the day. Alternative seating can increase student achievement and decrease behavior problems in classrooms. These seating options will be added to the flexible seating I already have in my classroom.

The additional seating options will give my more active students and chance to move while still being able to work.

By using flexible seating my students will build their core strength, improve their posture and be provided choices to choose the seat that will best meet their needs. We will get out our wiggles and have fun learning!
