Alternative Seating

My students need alternative seating, including wobble chairs, ball chairs, and soft stools for our classroom.

My Students

Flexible seating can burn more calories, use up excess energy, improve metabolism, increase motivation and engagement, create a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improve core strength and overall posture. This is perfect for the students in my classroom.

Our school sits in an inner city district and is considered a Title 1 school.

My students come from a variety of social and economical backgrounds. The classroom is comprised of those that are special ed, bilingual, as well as talented and gifted. The students all have one thing in common, they all want to succeed in third grade.

My Project

We are finishing this school year with the idea of alternative seating. I am going into the 2016-2017 school year as a fully implemented alternative seating classroom. These requested ball seats, Wobble Chairs, and soft stools will be used throughout the classroom as a seating option for the students. The classroom will be comprised of a reading nook, it will have balance chairs, stability balls, milk crate benches, and carpet squares. Allowing the students to move freely throughout the classroom and working in their ideal position will allow them to succeed in third grade.

Having this variety of seating will improve my students overall well-being and improve their scores.

Giving them an opportunity to work in their best learning climate is a forward thinking move that I know will show success. Having these resources donated to our classroom will allow me to focus on students academics and not worry about how the classroom is set up for the next school year.
