Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
With 100% of my class qualifying as high poverty and "at-risk," it is essential that I provide them the best educational experiences I possibly can. My scholars are fun, energetic, creative, loving children who need as much support, guidance, and love as I can give them. Providing a safe, organized, accessible environment is the first step in ensuring that my students are excited and comfortable expressing themselves, taking risks, and growing.
Our Cubs are college bound!
This year is critical in their reading development, and a literacy-filled environment will help us prepare them for college.
My Project
Alternative seating is the new craze, and I've seen it impact my classroom already. We currently have exercise balls, but my students need more options! Stools will help them work on posture and have a more stable base for activities that require writing. This will be a huge improvement over the wobbly exercise balls.
Students crave a variety of seating options so they can feel comfortable and energized as they work their brains!!
The inflatable chairs will add a fun reading area to our classroom so that students can find the joy in reading. Relaxing in the chairs with a good-fit book will be their new favorite thing!
We've already been through a few alternative seating options that didn't hold up to the everyday use of 35 students, so we are looking for more durable options that will hold up for the rest of the year.
My students helped me select these options as items that they feel will help them be more successful and engaged in their centers. When they are able to make their own choices and are excited about them the quality of their effort and resulting work is usually considerably higher.
