My Project
I work in a special education classroom for students in grades 5th through 8th. Each of my students has a diagnosis of autism. They have intellectual, educational, and sensory needs. My students struggle to sit still when completing work, doing activities and just being at their desks. A ball chair would allow my student the option of fidgeting in their seats (on the ball), at their desks instead of getting up to jump around the room. All of my students get multiple sensory breaks during the school day. Ball chairs will help provide for the sensory needs of my students. They have also been mentioned by our physical therapists that these chairs are great for working out their bodies as they sit. It helps them work on their core strengths, increases trunk muscle activation, improves their posture, and decreases discomfort. Please consider donating to help my class run more smoothly and allow my students added sensory opportunities in ball chairs.
