This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a 3rd grade teacher in a Spanish dual language immersion classroom. My classroom is dedicated to helping students develop their Spanish language skills while fostering a love for learning math and science.

My goal is to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for my students who are learning Spanish language arts, math, and science.

In our classroom, students are learning Spanish in a vibrant and interactive environment. However, the traditional desks and chairs can feel restrictive, making it challenging for them to fully engage.

Flexible seating helps students feel more comfortable and in control of their learning space, leading to increased participation, especially during language activities. Whether we are doing science experiments, learning math, working in reading groups, writing, discussing social studies, having class conversations, or working on group projects, the flexible arrangement lets me smoothly adapt to many types of learning. This change will not only enhance their comfort but also promote engagement and language development. Many of my students benefit from movement and the ability to choose where they work, which can enhance their focus and participation.

By offering this flexible seating arrangement, I believe my students will be able to focus better and enhance their academic achievement.
