My project needs a model hydrogen fuel cell car so we can compare its performance to a solar powered model car we already have.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Reeves's classroom raised $341

Our academy was built to relieve overcrowding in nearby underachieving schools. We are in our fourth year of existence. It is our goal to expose our students to the many varied experiences available to the curious, and to spark that curiosity into investigation and wonder.
We attended an alternative energy workshop at a local museum, and my students were captivated by the idea of a car that runs on water. Being from low income families they know that they don't go many places because gas is so expensive. At the workshop they constructed the model car, generated the hydrogen and actually squealed when the car scooted across the floor. We have a solar powered car that I use as an example of the use of alternative energy, and over the last few years the students have thought up ways to test its capability. During the workshop a few students wondered which one worked better, or would run longer. I want to capitalize on the question and get them thinking about alternative energy, for they are going to live in the world that is going to need it.
I would like to get a model hydrogen fuel car that the students can use to develop an inquiry question and then test the question, as they did with the solar powered car. I want to expose them to many forms of alternative energy, and the practical application of them. This may be the spark that leads to America solving its energy crisis in the years to come.
Free thinkers and inventors have made our world better. Exposing my students to cutting edge technology and encouraging their creative thinking about energy can only improve our world too. In years to come, when you see an invention or practical application of an alternative energy source, you can tell yourself that it may just have been your small gift that changed the world.
