My students need hands on learning materials, including lots of variety and ways to learn the alphabet. These tools will help them interact and learn with variety.
Learning the alphabet can be difficult for a struggling student. Oftentimes, it takes a variety of materials to choose from, and when you do see the understanding, it is exciting and wonderful. Don't forget the basics for a child - learning the alphabet leads to reading and writing!
Our school is a small rural school in Missouri.
I teach students in K- 6th grade, and we struggle with having enough materials to go around - especially letters, and materials for reading and writing.
My students learn through a variety of ways - with lots of repetition and review, checking for understanding, and using fun materials that students can pick up, manipulate, see visually, and learn with.
My students would be encouraged by having a variety of new materials - letters, handwriting materials, and alphabet materials - to work with! They would progress academically using these materials, and enjoy the reading and writing process more.
We always have a very active, full classroom - rarely is there a time when students are not in our room. We would love being able to help students by not just putting another "worksheet" in front of them, and trying to help them learn the material. Instead we could have fun activities that inspire and teach students the value of education.
My Project
Our students learn in a variety of ways: kinesthetically, auditorily, and visually. Having these materials to choose from will enable us to help teach in these ways.
Right now, we are shifting materials from group to group, and we must share items continually, and the items we have are limited. Starting with the alphabet is important - knowing the letters, the sounds they make, and turning these letters into words, and then reading and writing these words is what our English language is made up of! These supporting materials will help our students learn to read and write - to make the very foundation of our language into pillars in their lives.
It is my hope that our students will be excited and enthralled with new materials and learn from them. I think they will be deeply appreciative and they will truly love seeing these bright new learning materials in our room.
A struggling student who has a hard time learning to read and write must go back to the very foundation of the English language.
Having the necessary materials to support this learning process is vital.
As a teacher, seeing a struggling student learn to read and write is priceless! Enabling them with these processes is difficult - and having exciting new materials to make this possible will be much appreciated. We will send you a very grateful letter - proof of our learning efforts!
