My students need hands on materials when learning to identify letters and sounds. The alphabet sounds teaching tubs are great for teaching my students the English language and basic vocabulary.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Prest's classroom raised $303

My Students
I teach in a multilingual kindergarten classroom. I have a mix of students from our school's neighborhood and students that are from other countries or bilingual. There are 5 different languages spoken by the students in my classroom; English, Spanish, Nepali, Arabic and Urdu. My students are diverse in the languages they speak, their culture, and their academic abilities. A few students have attended PreK but most have never been in a school setting before. A few students don't even speak English when they first come to school.
I teach in a Title 1 school where all of my students qualify for free lunch.
Even though there are many challenges, they are happy to come to school and eager to learn. They are energetic, caring and sometimes very funny kindergarteners that deserve the very best I can offer them!
My Project
What I will be able to do with organized, magnet letters is endless! We will use them for letter identification, spelling, making CVC words (cat, dog, jug, red, etc), blending and the list goes on and on. I will be able to use the magnetic letters during my guided reading groups. I already have cookie trays that the students can use to hold the letters.
The Alphabet tubs will help my English language learners with basic vocabulary.
They will also help students sort the beginning sounds of words. My students need hands on material to keep them engaged and excited about learning!
