This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are creative, active, loving, full of questions, and inspiring! They absolutely enjoy fun, hands-on activities in our inclusion classroom.
They are active learners who need hands-on activities throughout the day in order to allow them to explore and interact with one another.
Early Childhood Education is the focus of our school. We offer bus services that bring students from all over the city with different backgrounds and challenges. About 90% of my students come from low-income families. Although my students are exposed to different learning strategies and are constantly on the go while learning, they need hands-on activities and a safe environment that allows them to focus and emerge as strong readers. By having this extra support we will be able to provide them with opportunities to meet their needs. These preschoolers are really an amazing group that fills my day with their smiles, questions, and original ideas.
My Project
Our students need a carpet for classroom meetings! My preschool students will sit on the carpet during morning meeting, learning centers and other educational activities. The carpet has letters and pictures that not only will allow students to learn their alphabet letters and sounds. The pictures on the carpet not only represent the letter sounds but allow our students to establish a relationship with phonics.
This carpet will not only help us learn academically, but the alphabet is feature in a fun and creative way allowing our students to establish the relationship between the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make.
