My students need 100 frogs for dissecting. We will use the frogs at the end of the human body unit as an extension for our lesson.

My Students

I work hard to create lessons in which students are in charge of their own learning. Labs, group work, and craft-activities are part of our everyday life. These activities are a classroom favorite but they are sometimes difficult to fund.

My students belong to a diverse outer-Houston area school.

Our school, teachers, and our 7th grade students are known to be a hard-working bunch. Although we don't always get enough funding for all our activities, we ALWAYS do our best with what we Do have and are ALWAYS grateful for the items and experiences we are granted.

My Project

The frogs we are requesting are part of our human body unit. We use the frogs as an extension activity at the end of the unit. Students will work in teams to compare the structure and function of various organs of the human body. They will make incisions and even remove various organs and examine tissues under a microscope in an effort to compare structure and function.

7th grade Science relies heavily on the understanding of life sciences.

An authentic experience will provide a very "real" and meaningful experience that will allow students to make very important connections. The experience that they will have had during this lab will for ever be engraved in their brains...I mean...have YOU forgotten your first dissection?
