This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Do you think paper grows on trees?" Well wouldn't it be great if we had some trees to get the paper from. Paper is a scarce commodity in my school and something that is so desperately needed on a daily basis. But you also need ink to go with the paper too huh?
I am a first grade teacher in NY.
Most of my students come from low income families or shelters. They all have rough home lives but they love school. They love to learn new things and they especially love to write. They love being authors and telling their stories. They would love it more if they could actually print out their stories and make them into real books!
My Project
My classroom has working computers and a printer that I personally bought from my home. Paper is very scarce in my school and so is printer ink. My school budget is very minimal and whenever we need supplies for the classroom I have to buy it myself. The board of education no longer gives teacher's choice money to but many much needed supplies. Therefore I have to rely on donations to help buy the necessities for my students.
Funding this project would be so wonderful for my students.
My students love to write stories and they would be so happy to be able to print them and create real books from their wonderful experiences. This month we will be writing all about books and the students would be so excited to print up pictures to go with their informational books. Please help make this become a reality that my students would love. All we need is paper and ink to make us happy!
