My students love to read. They are always asking for new books to read in our literacy stations or books they can borrow to take home. They love getting lost in a good book.
Reading is Our Jam!
I teach awesome first grade students in a high poverty, Title I school. Each student comes with different sets of abilities. They are wonderful students that are wanting to learn and increase their knowledge. I teach students that have many different backgrounds, including students who are ESOL. I love watching my students grow in their reading and daily life.
My Project
My students need nonfiction leveled reading book sets to help each child succeed at their individual level. Leveled readers will help my students in literacy stations, small groups, independent reading time, science and social studies. By having leveled readers, the students will be able to have the right book for them to help them succeed in the classroom. They will be able to research different topics and use their reading level. First-grade is an important year where they are learning different sounds, words and learning how to read fluently. The level readers will help with this. The students also need to book totes so they can take their books home to read and share with their families.
By donating to this project, it will make a difference because every child deserves to have the best education and chance that I can give them as their teacher.
Leveled books help give those children that struggle a better chance of succeeding with their reading skills.
