Help me give my students books! As we bring nonfiction learning through the Iditarod into the classroom, books such as "Togo" and "Born to Pull" are needed to dig deep into learning this material.

My Students
I work at an amazing school. Our community is close-knit, and many, like myself, grew up in our town. My students represent all different backgrounds, socio-economic status, and ethnicities. The staff works hard to provide meaningful instruction and memories that will last a lifetime.
My students are encouraged to be readers!
It's my goal to instill a love of learning through reading, and I feel that books in their hands give them the greatest chance to go on an adventure, meet new people, or travel to faraway places...all through a book.
My Project
Did you know that students who are read to daily are generally a year ahead of their peers who aren't read to? It's true! In our classroom, not only are they read to every day without question, but students also have built-in time for independent reading.
Successful students have access to books that they are interested in!
We will use the non-fiction titles to add to our informational study on the Iditarod. Fiction titles have been chosen based on my students interests. The more books I give them access to, the more they will read and grow as deep thinkers and learners!
More than a third of students from low‑income households
