FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. F.'s classroom raised $1,413
This project is fully funded
I teach fifth grade at a school in Mississippi. I teach all subjects to my class of 22 students. I work with the other fifth grade teachers as well as the special education teacher to provide Science instruction in an inclusive setting to 75 fifth graders. My school had severe damage due to Hurricane Katrina, and many students are still in FEMA trailers.
Due to all of this damage all of the Science resources were destroyed. Now, my students must share one small microscope. I have 22 students so this is a very difficult situation. We spend most of nine weeks studying cells and cell structures. We also spend a great deal of time learning about plants. My students need individual microscopes to help them learn about the microscopic cell structures as well as plant parts. They have been fascinated by the things they have seen using our one small microscope. I want to foster their love of Science and investigation by providing each student with an individual microscope. With these microscopes they will be able to focus on their independent study of cells. and plants. These microscopes would be available for all fifth grade students to use. I plan on using the microscopes in a Science center so six microscopes will be plenty for my classroom.
Thank you!
