My students need alphabet and number stamps, pictures of people in the neighborhood, visual supports, photographic learning cards, art supplies and life skills materials.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
There are so many new things for kindergarten and first grade students to learn and experience. There are many ways that we can make this fun, interactive and meaningful.
My students are warm, loving kindergarten and first grade students who are on the autism spectrum.
They are bright, curious and ready to learn more and more about the world. Our school is high poverty, but is full of teachers and parents who care and want our students to have the best education possible.
My Project
With these materials, my students will have increased access to visual supports, which will help them to understand and learn to read about basic life skills.
The art supplies will allow students to build creative skills and learn to express themselves in as many ways as possible.
The life skills materials will allow my students to practice skills they will need both at home and at school, as well as building fine motor skills. These skills will translate into my students feeling more comfortable at school and able to participate at home. Fine motor skills help with such essential abilities as printing and using scissors.
My students are in a critical stage of their lives.
Our help at this age can drastically change the course of their education. The materials requested in this grant, will help these children learn to read, understand what is in their school environment and enjoy being creative - something that used to be suggested that autistic children were not capable of. These children have so much potential and help from donors like you will allow them to reach their goals.
