My Students
Imagine what it would be like to know the answer to a question, but not be able to express it. My students need special tools in order to communicate what they know and how they feel every day. We want to provide communication devices to help them succeed in the classroom.
We are a class of 7 students, ages 13-21, with a wide range of challenges.
We face physical, intellectual, and visual challenges, as well as a number of medical challenges. We express ourselves through picture symbols and augmentative communication for all academic and social interactions. Despite these challenges, they are a great group of teenagers that wish to communicate like everyone else.
My Project
Step-by-step communication devices allow our students to participate in all aspects of academic and social instruction. We can use this type of device to communicate choices, read texts, tell jokes, and complete math problems. Having this device allows our students to actively interact with the world around them.
The power to communicate is critical to all students.
Some of them just need extra tools to do so. Having this device will give them the opportunity to pursue meaningful social interactions and prepare for employment after graduation. Thank you for considering donating to our students' futures.
