All-Star Kids Love To Draw & Write Amazing Stories!

My students need Crayola markers for Writer's Workshop (WW), easel pads, & 15 "How to Draw" books to help them learn to sketch WW pictures.

My Students

Have you ever drawn or written something using your favorite color of marker? You were motivated to draw and write more, weren't you? That is exactly how my second graders feel!

My All-Star 2nd grade students are excited, active learners who LOVE Writer's Workshop!

Their favorite things to do during Writer's Workshop are sketch and then write "small moments" about events that have happened in their "real lives". The students use markers to do their sketching and writing, as per the Writer's Workshop curriculum. My school has sustained significant budget cuts over the past 2 years, yet our enrollment has dramatically increased by almost 100 students. Lots of children and not enough $$ means that the purchase of Writer's Workshop markers is not a big priority (pencils, yes - markers, no). The majority of the students are free/reduced lunch, and they do not have access at their homes to markers.

My Project

I am requesting a class pack set of colorful thin-line Crayola markers for my second graders to use during Writer's Workshop lessons (we don't use pencils in Writer's Workshop, as per the Writer's Workshop curriculum)! Most of my students have a favorite color that they like to use when writing their stories - having a class pack set of markers will mean that everyone gets their first choice of color, further motivating them to write! In addition, my students need practice in learning how to make "quick sketches" for their Writer's Workshop stories. A set of "1-2-3 How To Draw..." books will give my students tips, tricks, and strategies for making quick and easy sketches. I am also requesting a set of post-it large sized easel pads for me to use when teaching/modeling Writer's Workshop mini-lessons in front of the whole class.

My students will be able to practice the important skills learned during Writer's Workshop mini-lessons by using their favorite color of marker from a Crayola class pack set of markers!

They will practice making amazing "quick sketches" for Writer's Workshop using a set of "1-2-3 How to Draw..." books! These markers and books will be loved and used by my current and future students. Thank you for your support!
