All Right Stop, Collaborate and Listen! Special Needs Audio
My students need a listening center for audio books: a mobile listening center, a wireless classroom headphones set, & storage bags to keep our books and CDs together.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Taylor's classroom raised $518

My Students
All Right Stop, Collaborate and Listen! No, it's not a brand new invention, but my students sure could hold on tightly to a new audio center. (Old-school folks will remember the lyrics to Ice, Ice, Baby.) An audio center would allow my students to listen to audio books in small groups.
My special needs preschool students have been identified as having developmental delays or autism.
They attend a public elementary school and range in age from 2-6 years old. My students are so eager to learn and are excited about coming to school. I want to continue building on their enthusiasm for learning!
Our Title One school is located in a high-poverty area, and 77.6% of our students are identified as economically disadvantaged. Our school is also designated as a math, science, and technology magnet within our city.
My Project
I am requesting a "Classic Birch, Anytime, Anywhere, Mobile Listening Center" that will let me set up a listening center anywhere in my classroom. It is compact, features locking casters for mobility, has room on top for our CD/tape player, storage below for books & CDs, and pegs on the side to store headphones. Plastic book storage bags will help keep our books & audio CDs paired together. We are also requesting a Wireless Classroom Headphones set, which includes 4 headphones and a transmitter that will accommodate any number of wireless headphones. Having a cordless set will allow my wiggly preschool students with special needs to use the headphones while sharing a book without becoming tangled in each other's cords. My old set of headphones becomes hopelessly tangled and many of them don't work properly or are missing pieces. We can also use these wireless headphones at the computer without danger of kids pulling on the jack by accident, and they can also share a computer.
Having this center will allow my students to listen to audio books and follow along in a printed book.
Listening to audio books will increase their exposure to language and vocabulary, and show my kids that books can be fun and exciting. Wireless headphones will allow them the mobility to go to our easel and use our storytelling manipulatives and puppets and keep them from getting tangled in cords. The cart will give us proper storage for our center and keep our materials in good shape.
