All out of Gas Part 2 (Building Solar Enegry Models)
My students need 10 Solar Energy resources, including Solar Building sets, a Physics Solar Workshop, Demolition Cruisers and a Solarion Air Force and Roadster Activity kit.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. F.'s classroom raised $388
This project is fully funded
I teach science to 6th-8th grade students. Our school is constantly in need of materials for science. During the school year, I received a grant to help students understand and use solar energy through experiments and building models. This class was offered as an after school program. The response was over whelming. I had a class of 20 6th-8th grade students that consistently came to the class. The students had little to no exposure on the subject.
Students worked in groups to create and do experiments with the solar models. Even through students work in groups, the students did not have enough materials to complete all the experiments. For 20-30 students, I needed a few more kits. I had other students that wanted to join the class however I did not have enough materials. At the end of the course, students evaluated what work to help them understand solar energy. The materials listed above will help make a bigger impact on their learning. I will again offer this class to students for the next school year.
Students will use the solar kits to perform basic to more advance experiments with solar energy. More students will be able to participate in the program. Students will be exposed to careers related to alternative energy. In their life time alternative energy will be more assessable.
The development of alternative energy is here to stay. Your contribution will allow me to reach more students this year. Your contribution will allow my students to consider other science related careers. Your contribution could ignite a passion in my students to continue discovering the world of science around us.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
