All Hands on Science!!!

My students need force and motion, simple machine, and electrical kits to have extra hands-on fun where they don't have to share. The Solar System kit is also engaging.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Picture this! Every child having a chance to touch and experience at the same time! Eager learners, not really wanting to wait. Well you can be the one that makes this vision come true. Materials are scarce and greatly needed.

The students in my school are from low economic backgrounds.

My school is a Title One school. My Science Lab offers them a chance to be on equal footing with others. It can mean the difference to a child, engaging learning that is carried throughout other areas. Science opens the eyes to to world. My students are very limited in the support they get outside the school. Over ninety-five percent are on free or reduced lunches. They have very limited experiences in most areas, and most are English language learners. Hands on experiences are crucial for development socially, academically and English language mastery.

My Project

These materials will be a great asset to my students in science lab. They will allow me to easily set up stations that address concepts. My lab sees students from K-5th. The older kids need more in-depth, well constructed stations that are already put together, allowing more thought to be put toward the younger kids. It is important for independent discovery in science, where kids are engaged and sharing their thoughts. The students will have the opportunity to learn content while having fun with their peers. Force and motion and electricity are only a couple of concepts students will learn with these materials. Picture the creations they can make incorporating these materials with others to show their learning and understanding.

The older kids are faced with more accountability in science.

The 5th graders in our state take a state-wide assessment at the end of the year that must be addressed even in 3rd and 4th grades to assure success for the students as well as the school. Last year the students did not reach the goal set forth. It is important that we give them every opportunity with hands on experiences. Any support we can obtain, in the area of science, will be greatly appreciated by everyone.
