Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Kids LOVE hands on projects where they get to create something from scratch to demonstrate their learning. However, most of the time classroom teachers do not receive the funding in order for students to have ample materials to stimulate creativity and design. The materials I am requesting will give my students a range of materials that they can choose from to keep their creativity flowing and support our goal engaging more in project based, hands on learning!
Additionally, I am requesting materials that will support the real life experiences I offer in my classroom such as financial literacy.
We have a classroom economy system where students "apply" for classroom jobs and get paid in our classroom money. They then can use this money to purchase things from our classroom store. Students are offered a variety of items at varying values and they are taught various money skills such as strategies for saving in order to buy higher value items that may interest them. Students enjoy the process of working hard and earning "money" from our classroom economy to use at the classroom store. However, store items that motivate students to want to work hard to earn classroom money are expensive and I am requesting materials that will help to get items that students will be interested in saving up to earn!
Lastly, my students are interested in engaging more in role play in the classroom. They would like to develop plays for the school to enjoy. We are requesting a red carpet to simulate a real life "red carpet experience" for our young actors to make the experience one to remember!
