"I teach Kindergarten in a rural Missouri school. My classroom of 23 has 8 students with IEP's and several of them are students with autism. My Kindergarten classroom is full of diversity. I have the highest number of special needs students in my classroom than any other class in Kindergarten this year. Our district is in a high poverty area and over 67% of our students receive free or reduced lunch.
Currently, we have one ancient printer in our classroom that has no ink. The school provides one color and one black cartridge at the beginning of the year. After we run out, teachers are expected to purchase the expensive cartridges on their own. We have been out for nearly an entire quarter already and still have almost half the year to go.
We also have a scanner, but cannot get it to hook up at the same time the printer is plugged in. We use the scanner to scan projects that we can project for all the kids to see. We need one piece of technology that can do it all.
My students love to print their work and we make a variety of class books for the kids to read and illustrate. We also print a lot of low resolution pictures to illustrate charts and books.
We desperately need a HP All-in-One printer to be able to complete the projects we do on a daily basis. I would love to be able to print games and other printables for my students to use to reinforce concepts I am currently teaching. We need the scanner to scan projects to use with our SchoolPad and projector.
With your generous donation, you will ensure that my students are keeping up with technology and allowing them the opportunity to publish work that is meaningful to them. Your donation will also allow me to provide more adequate resources for my students. I would love to be able to print games and other printables for my students to use to reinforce concepts I am currently teaching.
