Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend first grade at a low-income charter school. They work hard and want to do well, but the school does not always have the resources to best help the students. First grade is an important year in a child's education. Learning is very hands-on and interactive. One of the important interactive tasks learned in first grade is reading.
My first graders are excited about learning to read!
We have been setting goals as a class to help them become "second grade readers." I want to be able to help them become the best readers they can and develop a life-long love of reading.
My Project
These books and CDs will help my students improve their reading through developing their listening skills. Listening is an important part of the reading process. It helps with comprehension, fluency, and prosody.
Hearing books read correctly will show my students a good example of speed, precision, and expression.
Students will be able to model their reading after the stories they hear through the books and cds in this project. Student comprehension will improve as they absorb and process the stories to which they are listening. Please help my students with the books and resources they need to become good readers!
