My Students
"Today, we are the shapers of the world tomorrow," said Walt Disney, and my students live by this each day in our class. Imagine being able to create a podcast interviewing a character from a novel you just read, or creating a stop motion video to demonstrate your understanding of a novel.
Our class is full of students who are eager to learn and want to show off their creativity.
Instead of creating a written report of what they have learned, a podcast allows them to create a full audio and video presentation that they can share with each other and the world. A stop motion video integrates numerous 21st Century skills that they will need to be successful in tomorrow's society.
My Project
My students need LEGOs to make stop motion videos to support literacy & STEM skills and microphones to record podcasts and voice over work on the stop motion video. We want to create bigger and better podcasts! Podcasts allow us to share what we have learned with other students and help us to better retain what we have learned. We would like to be able to expand on the podcasts and move on to stop motion video to tell stories. We have cameras to use, but need the LEGO materials in order to create the stop motion videos.
It is hard to engage students in projects that are both fun and educational.
By creating podcasts and stop motion videos, students are using 21st century skills to share what they have learned. These activities allow students to show off their creativity and help them to better retain what they have learned. It also will allow our class to share our learning with the world and to help inspire others to branch out into the podcasting and video production world.
