My Students
Our students are hungry for rich literature that encourages life skills and global awareness on multiple levels. They are kind and caring individuals with a curiosity about the world around them. They are choosing good fit books from limited collections, purchased by teachers. We would like to increase the number of book sets to provide the opportunity for book clubs and literature circles. In these situations, our students can investigate deep concepts and discuss real life issues while generating possible solutions.
My Project
Many of our favorite books are only available for one student at a time. This project is designed to offer six copies of the same title to a group of students. This will enable groups of students to practice skills and strategies for increasing comprehension by discussing books in depth.
Students will independently read and practice together.
Currently, our students are enjoying chapter books, but do not have the luxury of reading the same title while their peers are reading them, waiting for the book kills interest levels. This project will give us the chance to read alone and work together on the same titles.
