My Students
Through generous donors so far, our students have each gained a personal laptop station in their general music classroom. What was once a lesson done on worksheets about composition can now be done on a laptop, and our music students can immediately hear the compositions they create.
Everyone loves music, and with technology music becomes easy to write.
Our students represent the diverse population of our great city, and some travel a great distance just to come to school every day. In our two months of music class this year, our students have created melodies and harmonies, and are right now working on creating a drum set beat to play behind their music. The different backgrounds of our students mean that we have all kinds of musical styles represented in the compositions they create. With everyone working on their music at the same time, the classroom can get distracting for students to be able to concentrate on their own music creation.
My Project
With an individual headphone set, students will be able to work on their individual project without distractions. If one student wants to share their work, they can share headphones, and listen to each other's work while everyone else can still concentrate on the music they are writing. The headphones will allow more individuality in the student's work by keeping their compositions authentic to what they want to create, as opposed to writing the sounds that they hear coming from other speakers in the room.
It will be wonderful for students to delve into their music world while I assist those students that have questions during a project.
Headphones will not only allow students to work without distractions, it will also allow more creativity in class for students to explore their own personal style in their musical compositions.
