This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a low-income, high-poverty area. Many students are English Language Learners and need experience with the language. They may not have many opportunities at home after school or on weekends to practice their English skills.
All of the students at the school qualify for free lunches.
Many come to school hungry and tired because their families are concerned with affording day-to-day necessities. The school is a safe haven for many students. They need to create good working habits in order to succeed in the future!
My Project
Coming back into the classroom after being in a Zoom classroom has been challenging to students. My young students are learning how to be in a face-to-face community. We are working to improve our social skills by learning about ourselves.
One way to gain self-confidence is to focus on our strengths and stories!
Sharing our stories will help us learn more about ourselves and each other. Supplies are needed to make our own stories to share in our learning environment. We need blank books and markers.
Social-emotional learning is imperative to learning academics.
Help us learn about ourselves so we can learn about each other and become productive citizens in a learning community!
