My students need desk tape number lines, math flashcards and these helpful skills books to support their success in math. I created this project when I realized that many of my students are still struggling with basic math facts.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are bright and inquisitive young learners. More than half come from low-income families. They face a variety of challenges. They have different abilities, personalities, and achievement levels. Some also have special needs.
I want all my students to have access to the materials they need, so they feel safe to take risks, face challenges, and grow.
They are excited about the school year and are open to learning new habits. They are a joy to be around and are an amazing bunch of kids!
My Project
My students are in second grade. The expectations for math are somewhat different for second graders than they were in the era before Common Core standards. My students must not only master addition and subtraction fluently but most also grasp high-level analysis embedded in various strategies which the standards require us to teach.
Sometimes, when exposed to the multiple strategies and alternative approaches that Common Core standards call for, students are left without the essential fluency of basic addition and subtraction.
I do not want my students to struggle with math throughout their school years or into adulthood. Mastery of the basics is crucial to their understanding of math and their disposition towards it. We need desk tape number lines, math flashcards and math skills books. These resources will help make learning basic math facts fun! The individual student workbooks are for students to use at home to help engage their parents in supporting their children's math mastery.
