My Students

We are a neighborhood school serving the community since l927. In addition to general education students, our students represent twenty-three language groups, many of them English language learners and students with special needs. Our mission is to develop joyful learners by providing them with support, encouragement, and a variety of opportunities to grow.

Our students are enthusiastic learners who thrive on creativity and being challenged!

They are motivated by high-interest level curriculum and hands-on learning opportunities. They also love being able to explore, create new things, and are highly motivated by student centered learning. We are always looking for ways to provide them with tools that will help them maximize their potential.

My Project

Algorithms in kindergarten? Most definitely! Our kindergarteners have been learning that they use algorithms everyday for the most basic of tasks. Brushing their teeth, eating breakfast, and getting ready for school all involve algorithms. They are now ready to see how the idea of steps to complete an everyday task can connect to the world of computer science.

Our students will grow foundational logic skills with Kodable and learn to identify code as a language and to apply algorithms to complete computational tasks.

Kodable is an engaging introduction to computer science and our students are excited and ready to dive right in!
