The use of pencils, erasers, and sharpeners is a constant in math class. I have three classes throughout the day with about 20 students per class. I have at least five students ask for one of those items per class. I do the best I can and buy items with my own money but it becomes a lot of money.
Today, a student was completing their math assignment with a colored pencil.
I asked why and he said he doesn't have any pencils so he used what he could. The fact that this student was so determined to complete his assignment was so wonderful to see and reminded me that no matter the obstacles in our path, we can persevere.
I am asking for erasers, pencils, lead pencils, and lead for daily use in class. The whiteboard markers will be used for small group and whole group instruction when they can each have a whiteboard to show work on.
Due to the diverse levels of learning, I often give Ed Puzzles for an intro to class as some students find this beneficial. I currently have 10 headphones and was hoping to get enough for every student to have one.
Please help me provide my students with the bare essentials a classroom needs and give them the opportunities that students shouldn't even have to ask for.
