My Students

Seeing how technology is our students' world, why not bring it into the classroom? At our school, we have so many ideas that would bring technology into our daily instruction. However, our budget says otherwise.

Students who attend the school where I teach are average first-generation college students.

They attend an early college high school, which is located on a four-year state university campus. During their four years of high school, they have the opportunity to earn up to 60 hours of college credit tuition-free. We provide a rigorous, challenging high school curriculum while building relationships with the students, parents, and community. Also, we are incorporating 21st century skills, which includes technology and critical thinking.

My Project

By having the flip video cameras readily available in the classroom, students will be able to bring the algebra content alive. It will tap into the students' different modes of learning and expressing the knowledge they have learned. Today's students have grown up with technology at their fingertips, so why shouldn't they have the same experience in the classroom?

Our technology budget only emphasizes computer hardware and software.

I would love to bring in other modes of technology, such as the flip video cameras and then use movie editing software to have students create videos of what they are learning.
