This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a teacher to an amazing group of second grade students. This year completely has changed what our daily rituals used to be. We have to greet each other with a mask covering our smiling faces, however, I can still see the excitement and happiness in their eyes.
The school they attend is classified as a Title I school; therefore most of them are "at-risk students".
All of them qualify to participate in the free breakfast and lunch programs. The community in which they live in is stricken by a high level of poverty. This, however, does not affect their desire to please me, which in turn makes me love my job even more so. I can only hope to impact them on the importance of striving for success.
My Project
The selected Alexa and light bulbs will be used in the classroom to manage the lights throughout the day while students are taught their daily lessons. During the day, we utilize the overhead project and it is difficult for the students that are on-campus and virtually to see the screen with the classroom lights on. Therefore, I have a few lamps around the room to provide some light while they are writing in their journals.
With the Alexa and light bulbs, we will save precious and valuable learning time, since we can call out to her to turn lights on and off as need be.
The iPad covers and screen protectors will protect the classroom iPads from damage as we manipulate them during the day. We want to be able to keep them from the possibility of cracking the screens. The headphones will enhance the students with the ability to stay focused and block out the surrounding noise while working on their chrome books as they complete online assignments.
