Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The student population at my school is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. Over 80% of the students in my room are learning English as a Second Language. I see about a thousand students every week, from Kindergarten to grade five.

My school is located in one of the poorest areas of the state.

Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. All of the students receive free or reduced rate lunch, and some of them even go home without food on the weekends.

My Project

Having an Amazon Echo and corresponding smart outlet plugs in the classroom could help in so many ways. Technology can introduce my students to cultures and events, as well as providing answers to almost anything. This Amazon Alexa Echo Dot is like a virtual computer that can tell us anything at the top of a hat.

I could think of a thousand ways Alexa could be incorporated into the art room.

Which Artist painted the Mona Lisal? Alexa, set the timer for ten minutes. Alexa, turn on Red tables lamp. Alexa, turn on the laminator. I could go on and on. My students could benefit from all the amazing tasks with Alexa and these smart plugs in our Art room.
